NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The family of a 56-year-old research scientist who was struck by a bus in New Haven earlier this week says he has died.

Family members say Michael Jaye has died at Yale-New Haven Hospital and his family has donated his organs.

Colleagues says Jaye was well known and respected in his field of biomedical research and was particularly interested in developing new treatments for heart disease and the underlying causes.

Police say that on Monday he was crossing South Frontage Road at College Street when he was struck by the bus.

His sister says Jaye suffered brain injuries and never regained consciousness.
