The National Weather Service says a small tornado touched down in Nappanee around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Wind speeds of 70 to 75 MPH were generated by the EF0 tornado, and it had a path length of 0.6 miles, according to the NWS. It had a maximum width of 30 yards.
There was minor roof and tree damage. The NWS says insulation debris was carried up to a half mile.
An NWS spokesman told WSBT it took everyone by surprise, because there were no watches or warnings.
