A New York man is sentenced to life in federal prison for the October 30, 2010 robbery of the M & T Bank in Hanover, York County. 54 year old Kareem Shabazz was found guilty of armed robbery on May 4, 2012 by a federal jury in Harrisburg. Shabazz was also found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy and transporting firearms with the intent to use them in the commission of a home invasion robbery in Luzerne County.
Shabazz, armed with a shotgun, was one of three men who went into the bank in the 700 block of San Souci Parkway. Shabazz was wearing a mask. The trio got away with $17,000. A fourth suspect drove the three men to New York. After being identified as one of the robbers, Shabazz was arrested on December 30, 2010 and charged with transporting three firearms, including the shotgun he used in the bank robbery, across state lines with the intent to use those weapons in the commission of a home invasion robbery in Luzerne County.
