Elderly Woman Struck, Killed By Ambulance
An elderly woman was killed early Tuesday after she was struck by an ambulance who was transporting a patient to the hospital, police said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was crossing Bay Parkway at the Belt Parkway in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn at around 5:51 a.m. when she was struck. The victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

According to authorities, the woman was not carrying identification at the time of the accident, but they believe she was in her 80's.

The ambulance was reportedly carrying a patient with abdominal pain when it struck the victim.

New York City police trying to determine whether the emergency vehicle had its sirens and lights on at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
