In a statement, lawyers say they plan to file a complaint Tuesday in New York State Supreme Court on behalf of a patient, hospital employees and members of the community.
Saint Vincent's Hospital, a 160-year-old institution, treated hundreds of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and was at the forefront of the early response to the AIDS epidemic.
The hospital's outpatient services will continue as the organization seeks solutions to keep them running.
