Pearl River High School has a message for students on prom night: show up for class the next day or else.

In an effort to curb partying the Rockland County school has scheduled this year's senior prom for a Sunday night. The junior prom is on a Wednesday. School will be held the next day.

If students are late, they will not be able to make up assignments or tests. They also will not be able to participate in that day's sporting events.

In the past, parents and faculty around the country have tried to stop kids from drinking by holding sleepovers and asking them to sign no alchohol pledges. Still, the Jersey Shore remains one of the hot spots kids flock to for after prom parties.

According to The New York Times, police handed out 50 tickets to Pearl River students last year in Seaside Heights, N.J. for underage drinking. Each one is cost $300. Among those cited was the son of the Pearl River Parent Teacher Association.
