Dozens Of Animals Killed In LI Veterinary Fire
Dozens of animals died Sunday morning after a fire ripped through a Plainview veterinary clinic.

According to Nassau County fire officials, at least two dogs, several birds and one rabbit died in the fire that broke out just before 8 a.m. at the Old Country Road Animal Clinic located at 669 Old Country Road.

It took firefighters nearly an hour and a half to extinguish the flames, according to fire officials.

Investigators say it may have been an electrical fire. However, an exact cause has not been determined.

A nearby deli was also damaged in the blaze. In addition, police say smoke affected six other stores in the strip mall

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries -- including two for heat exhaustion.
