Police are looking into what they believe is a murder-attempted suicide involving a disabled, eight-year-old girl and her 30-year-old mother.

Saturday was suppose to be a great day for little Julie Cirella, who - despite being confined to a wheelchair - was supposed to be a flower girl in her cousin's wedding. But, it was not to be. Julie's flower-decorated wheelchair was found in the family home, located on Shelley Court near Stewart Street in Plainview.

Nassau County Police say, Julie's grandmother, Delores Cirella, went to her daughter-in-law's house around 12:30, and knew something was wrong, when no one answered the door.

When she finally got inside, she found 30-year-old Veronica Cirella on the bed, a cord around her neck, and Julie on the floor. Investigators say a male relative tried to revive the little girl via cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but failed.

Doctors at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow say Veronica Cirella is stable condition.

Meanwhile, police are trying to establish a time line to find out what led up to the tragedy and how it unfolded.
