MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (WPIX)—A 16-year-old student at Massapequa High School is in the hospital after being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
Nassau County Health Officials said they are working to identify close contacts and advise them of the need for preventative treatment.
Symptoms can include high fever, headache, vomiting, stiff neck and rash. They can appear anytime between two and ten days.
Individuals who think they may be infected should contact their doctors immediately.
