BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (WPIX) -- They don't call it the Gold Coast for nothing. Now the community of Brookville on Long Island has been listed as the wealthiest community in the nation by BusinessWeek magazine.
In fact, nine Long Island communities, including Roslyn Estates and Oyster Bay Cove, made the list of the country's top 25 richest.
Little Rock, Arkansas found that Brookville residents' net worth was $1.67 million. The citizens of this more than fair locale pulled in an average annual income of $328,000.
Village Mayor Caroline Zimmermann Bazzini is not too concerned about how the recession will effect local taxes. The painful recession that has depressed the middle class has had minimal repercussions on her constituency.
Bazzini says though Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony call Brookville home, neighbors are not busy flaunting their wealth to each other. Unless, of course, if they happen to carry this list with them wherever they go.
