Police Step Up Patrols After Girl, 13, Attacked While Walking To Bus Stop
Suffolk County Police are stepping up patrols in one Long Island neighborhood as they investigate an incident where a middle school student was approached by a man as she walked to her bus stop.

The 13-year-old Elwood Middle School student was heading north on Morris Avenue toward her bus stop on Delamere Street at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her.

Police said the student acted quickly and punched the man, which caused him to let her go - and she then ran to the bus stop.

The incident was caught on tape thanks to a surveillance camera located at a home on Delamere Street.

Police are looking for a man who is described as about 20- to 30-years-old, between 5-feet 7-inches and 6-feet tall, with a tan complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a skull cap.
