Jealous Man Who Murdered Girlfriend Was 'A Monster'
Miguel Pena, 58 has been charged Wednesday with second-degree murder after police found the body of girlfriend Felicia Cruz, 49, wrapped in plastic inside his Lower East Side apartment at approximately 1:30 pm on Tuesday.

“He was very jealous. She wanted to leave him” said Cruz’s ex-husband Jose Jachero “He’s a monster.”

Police were called to investigate when Cruz didn’t show up for work, which was out of character for the hard-working health aide. Close friends say Cruz worked long hours to provide for her two children Eric Jachero, 14, and Juan Mejia, 27, as well as her sick mother.

“She always went out of her way to help people” said longtime friend Juan Mercado “She had a good heart.”

Cruz’s mother Blasina Regalado, 68, said when her daughter went missing she knew something was wrong.

“I can’t believe she’s gone” says Regalado “I will never forget her. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it.”

The medical examiner is expected to perform an autopsy on Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
