HACKENSACK, N.J. (WPIX)—Gas prices are much lower than they've been and they could drop even lower to less than $3 a gallon.
On South State Street in Hackensack, they're selling regular for $3.10 a gallon at the Enrite station. Just across the street Delta station owner Guy Madmon has the cheapest regular in the state according to thee Gas Buddy website at $3.07 a gallon.
Customers say they love it.
"I'm happy to see $3.07. I'd be happy to see it go down even more." one man told PIX11 News.
"$3.07 is very good. I just keep praying that it goes down even more. Then everything would be okay," said another.
If you go on the gas buddy website you can find 3.08 at a lot of places including the Sam's Club stations in Edison. Not bad considering energy speculators had us all bracing for $5.00 gas by Memorial Day and paying well over $4.00 a gallon.
Consumers didn't like the taste of $5.00 gas and lower demand has lead to lower prices.
Statewide averages are plunging.regular is averaging $3.70 a gallon in Connecticut, $3.34 in New Jersey and $3.68 in New York.
And prices could fall even lower too less than 3 bucks a gallon when they are cut on the New Jersey Turnpike setting a new average price in the Garden State.
