Police arrested a Suffolk County mom for driving drunk Tuesday, a charge that became a felony once officers noticed that she had her two young children in the backseat.
Suffolk County Police arrested Jennifer Pyszczymuka at 10:30 a.m. after she made a left turn across a double yellow line on Shore Road into southbound traffic -- slamming into the traffic pylons that line a canal, according to police.
Officers caught up with her at Dynamic Collision on Shore Rd. where they discovered that Pyszczymuka's 5-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter were in the back seat.
Under Leandra's Law, police charged Pyszczymuka with felony aggravated DWI with a child, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of driving while ability impaired.
Leandra's Law was created in the name of Leandra Rosado, an 11-year-old girl who was killed in 2009 when an intoxicated Carmen Huertas flipped her car on the Henry Hudson Parkway -- also injuring six other children.
Pyszczymuka's children were picked up by a relative and her car was impounded. She is due back in court Wednesday for arraignment.
