A Halloween party at a Long Island night club turned into a brawl and shootout, sending two partygoers to the hospital early Friday morning.

Southampton Town Police say the shooting occurred at a Halloween costume party hosted by Dream Night Club, located at 17 Canal Road in Hamptons Bay just before 4 a.m.

Cops say a fight between two costume contestants, one of them dressed as a cave woman, escalated into a large free-for-all fist fight involving several people and moved from the inside to outside the club.

One of the fight participants, not a costume contestant, ran to the club's parking lot to retrieve a handgun. The partygoer then began firing the gun while walking back to the entrance of the club.

Two men near the entrance were suffered injuries as as a result of the shooting.

Shawn Badgett, 35, of Middle Island, who was promoting the event, was transported by friends to University Hospital in Stony Brook for treatment.

The second victim, a 64-year-old man from Riverhead, was transported by Hampton Bays Ambulance to Brookhaven Hospital.

The extent of the victims' injuried were not released, and the identity of the second victim was pending family notification.

Police say the shooter, along with the two contestants who started the melee, fled the scene before local and state police units arrived on the scene.

Cops are searching for the shooter, who was dressed as a character from the movie "Dead Presidents."
