A Bethpage man was arrested after he hit three moving vehicles with rocks he threw from a Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway overpass, police said Wednesday.

Patrick Kennedy, 21, of 33A Stymus Ave., walked onto the Long Island Railroad overpass over the expressway, between Exits 7 and 8, and began throwing rocks at southbound vehicles Tuesday evening, Nassau police said.

The incident occurred at 6:38 p.m., police said.

The windshields of a 1997 International truck and 2004 Jeep Cherokee were damaged, as was the front passenger door of a 2005 GMC Envoy, police said. There were no injuries.

An officer responding to a Nassau police highway patrol officer's broadcast saw the suspect fleeing on foot along the railroad tracks, police said.

A canine unit assisted and caught the suspect in back yard on Central Avenue.

Kennedy was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespass. He will be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
