MORRISANIA, N.Y. (WPIX)—Three Bronx elementary school students - ranging in age from 8 to 11 - were taken into police custody Wednesday after authorities nabbed the youngsters with weapons and foiled an alleged plot on a faculty member, police said.
The suspects - two third graders and a fifth grader - were escorted out of Public School 2 in Morrisania by their principal after a school aide reportedly saw the kids armed with a knife and box cutter. In addition, some reports claim the children also had in their possession cans of spray paint.
All three boys were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and criminal possession of a weapon. Police believe the boys' intended to use the weapons as part of a planned attack on a school faculty member.
Margie Feinberg, a spokesperson for the Department of Education, said "parents were notified and disciplinary action is pending."
