Ellen's Tips:

Ask your boss if there is a formal dress code and get a copy

Better to be too formal than too casual

Dress for the position you aspire to

If your boss wouldn't wear it then you shouldn't.

A regional vice president for the temp placement firm Robert Half International told me here are some don'ts she sees and strongly advises against: Flip flops or too casual sandals
See-through/sheer clothes
Tops that look like lingerie
Leggings (they're NOT pants)
Showing too much skin (crop tops, low-rise pants, cleavage)
Baggy pants
Capri pants
