An autopsy today on the missing Northwestern University student whose body was found in Wilmette Harbor Thursday reports the victim died of an accidental drowning but the manner of death is undetermined.
The body of 18-year old Harsha Maddula was discovered around 7 pm. Thursday evening in the water between two boats near the Sheridan Rd bridge.
His wallet, identification and cellphone were found in his pants pocket.
No signs of foul play were found on the body.
Students on campus today say they were holding out hope that Maddula would have been found alive.
Maddula's family members, who flew-in from New York to aid in the search, said they believe he did not kill himself or that his disappearance for six days was a result of a rare form of diabetes.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office had no additional information about what may have led to the sophomore’s death.
