Downtown Chicago will be completely wireless, if Mayor Rahm Emanuel has his way.

The mayor has instructed officials to look into the cost and technology needed to turnthe entire downtown into a wireless network zone.

The Mercantile Exchange and the Board of Options are already connected, and Mayor Emanuel says his plan would give Chicago a huge strategic advantage over other cities.

When Emanuel took over at City Hall last year, he found his office wasn't even wired for the internet.
