On this day 34-years ago, the world was shocked by the sudden death of Rock and Roll pioneer, Elvis Presley.

The 42 -year-old King of Rock & Roll's official cause of death was a heart attack. But post-autopsy reports show there were as many as 14 drugs in his system at the time of his passing.

To commemorate his life and his legacy, nearly 40,000 fans from all over the world are descending upon Graceland this week. They're taking over the Memphis, Tennessee property for what's known as "Elvis Week."

The week will be marked with concerts, parties, and other tribute events. Early this morning thousands of fans gathered at the gates of Graceland to hold a candlelight vigil in Elvis' honor.

A message was read to those life-long Elvis fans from his daughter Lisa Marie Presley:

"Thank you so much for being here and continuing to honor the legacy of my father. Your ongoing love and support mean very much to me and my family."
