Former CLTV reporter to be honored
On Thursday April 8, 2010, friends and family of political reporter Carlos Hernandez Gomez will pay tribute to him with a concert at FitzGerald's Nightclub in Berwyn, IL.

Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Carlos Hernandez Gomez passed away in January after a yearlong battle with cancer. It was not only a devastating loss to Chicago's journalist community, but the Chicago music community remembers Carlos as one of their own as well. He was a musician in his own right and a loyal fan and friend of many local artists. Carlos's love for British Invasion music, and The Beatles in particular, was well known. The evening will feature the music that meant so much to him.

Confirmed artists for the tribute concert include The Beatle Brothers, Phil Angotti with special guest Brad Elvis, and Eric Howell. In addition, there will be a reunion performance by Carlos's former band, The Gear, making their first live appearance in 15 years.

Actor Joe Farina will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening. Along with the concert, night will also feature a silent auction at FitzGerald's. Additionally, there will be an online auction featuring autographed memorabilia donated by some of the biggest names in music, film and TV history (including many of Carlos' personal favorites).

"Our family is honored that these legendary and talented artists have contributed to the silent auction," said Carlos's wife, Randi Belisomo Hernandez. "We are blown away by the incredible response we have received. I know Carlos would be grateful for this and the fact that all proceeds will go to a cause so near to our hearts."

All proceeds from The Carlos Hernandez Gomez Tribute Concert will benefit Living Water International, a faith-based non-profit organization that helps communities in developing countries acquire safe drinking water.

"Always a sensitive soul, Carlos's disease only increased his empathy for the struggles of others," said Randi. "He watched coverage of the Haiti earthquake the week before he died, weeping at the images on TV. He knew the work of Living Water International is what is truly needed there; without clean water, there is no foundation for development. The work of LWI reflects Carlos's love of others and of God." The proceeds from the concert and auction will go towards improving access to safe drinking water in Haiti.

Admission to the tribute concert is $25.00 in advance/ $30.00 at the door. Guests can RSVP, purchase tickets, or donate to Living Water International online at
