101 Foods That Could Save Your Life

101 Optimal Life Foods

Eat plant sterols
Plant sterols are found in fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and cooking oils, and research shows they can help lower cholesterol. In addition to eating lots of fruits and veggies, opt for corn oil as your cooking oil. Corn oil contains more cholesterol-blocking plant sterols than any other cooking oil. Four times as many as olive oil and 40 percent more than canola oil.

Choose the right fats
Polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats are found in fish, nuts, seeds and oils and may help lower your cholesterol levels. Avoiding saturated and trans fats by eating lean protein and low-fat dairy can also play a role in heart health.

Add more fiber
Fruits & vegetables and whole grains are good sources of heart-healthy antioxidants and cholesterol-lowering dietary fiber.

Go Fish
Fish is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which have a profound impact on heart health

Get Moving
Regular exercise can also help control blood pressure, manage weight and strengthen the heart.
