Former Louisiana Governor Edwin W. Edwards wed his third wife Friday in a small ceremony at a French Quarter hotel officiated by the chief justice of the Loiusiana Supreme Court.
Edwards, 83, married Trina Grimes Scott, who is more than 50 years his junior. He will celebrate his 84th birthday a week early at a Saturday night bash at the Hotel Monteleone.
The longest serving govenor in Louisiana history, Edwards was released from federal prision in January and recently ended home confinement for a racketeering conviction for which he served more than eight years.
The Edwardses looked resplendent on Friday, with the bride in a strapless white silk gown and the former governor in a dark suit and gold tie with a calla lily boutonniere.
The couple planned a celebratory lunch at a restaurant in the French Quarter.
