The Jefferson Federation of Teachers files a lawsuit against the Jefferson Parish School Board after what they claim are unjust lay-offs.
Melanie Munch, President of the JFT, went to court Wednesday to seek a temporary injuction to stop the layoffs. Munch calls the layoffs "madness."
The JFT says laying-off certified permanent/tenured teachers for this coming school year is in violation of law and the Louisiana Constitution.
The Jefferson Federation of Teachers is a labor organization that represents teachers and school employees in the Jefferson Parish Public School System.
