1) Milani Lip Flash Sticks: I was so excited to find out about these!! Celebrity Makeup Artist Betsy Boone, who has quite the list of A-list Celeb clients, shared this great bargain beauty find with us. The Lip Flash Sticks come in 8 different shades, and have just a hint of shimmer in them. She says the sticks come in shades that all follow the bright, bold pops of color that represent the trend we're seeing this season. She says a great tip to help you wear the lip flash sticks day and night----Put a little lip balm on first to lighten the color for day wear, then reapply to clean, bare lips at night for a bolder look. The Milani Lip Flash Sticks run about $7 each, and can be purchased at most drug stores or at MilaniCosmetics.com.
2) got2b fat-tastic dry shampoo: I love love love dry shampoo for the summer!!! I can't tell you how many times it's saved me. Just a few sprays and it looks like you washed, dried, and styled your hair. Even on days when you've washed my hair, a few hour in the heat and humidity can leave your hair looking flat and greasy. This is a great way to get a little extra fullness, and it's a life-saver when you just don't have time to wash and style. An important tip though... Do not spray too much, or too close to the scalp, especially if you have brown or black hair. It can tend to make the hair look grey if over-applied. If you're new to dry shampoo, test it out on the back, underneath part of the hair first to see how it works on you. If you do apply too much, you can usually brush it out, but try to remember that less is more, and keep the nozzle at least 8 inches from the scalp. The product retails for about $5.99 at most drugstores and also online. Another great dry shampoo I love is called Psssssst. It's around the same price, can be purchased at most drugstores (or online), and has been around forrrrever (in fact if I'm not mistaken, it was the first dry shampoo to hit the market decades ago).
3) Sally Hansen's new and improved Airbrush Legs for $9.95: This is a great, lightweight leg makeup (but it can be used anywhere) that helps cover up veins, bruises, freckles, imperfections, and give you a nice tanned look, minus the sun's harmful rays. The look is temporary, and washes off with soap and water. It comes in several different shades, and our makeup artists also love this product to fix streaks and mistakes from more permanent self tanners that can take days to wear away. This product can be found at most drugstores and online.
4) MD Minerals by Dr. Janine Hopkins: Dermatologist Dr. Sarah Jackson says mineral makeup is one of her favorites for the summer months, and all year round, because she says the ingredients are great for the skin, add a little extra SPF protection (you still want to apply a sunscreen underneath though with a minimum SPF of 30), and she says it won't clog pores or cause the skin to look oily. MD Minerals makes a great line of mineral bases (You can choose from their baked powder bases and liquid bases, depending on your preference), along with beautiful lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadows, brow shadows, as well as some amazing brushes to apply the products with. Dr. Janine Hopkins is a board-certified Dermatologist out of Monroe, and her daughter is actually the beautiful model and spokesperson for the company! MD Minerals can be purchased at select dermatologists' offices, as well as online at www.MDMineralsOnline.com, where you can find a complete rundown of all the products and prices.
