The St. Tammany Parish Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is calling for a mandatory evacuation of homes near the Pearl River Diversion Canal, which is just east of LA-41, between Locks 1 and 2 on the canal.

According a post on the St. Tammany Parish webpage and the St. Tammany Parish Facebook page, "The area is from Lock 2 in the community of Bush reaching south to Hickory/36, south to Hwy 41. The Town of Pearl River is NOT included, nor are any other areas to the south."

Earlier postings on the Facebook page said that failure of Lock 2, in Bush was imminent, saying that the dam would soon fail and send water flooding into homes south of Bush.

The St. Tammany Parish Deptartment of Engineering is working to relieve the pressure on the dam.
