Giants waive Chad Jones
The New York Giants have waived defensive back Chad Jones, after the club said he failed his physical.

Jones had hoped to participate on the field in the Giants rookie minicamp last weekend.

The Giants said Jones' left leg, severely injured during a single car accident June 25th, 2010 is still "functionally impaired."

In a statement, the Giants said Jones "has made remarkable recovery to date." But the club said Jones still has "residual sensory loss, muscle weakness, and tenuous soft tissue coverage in the involved lower leg."

Jones won a pair of National Championships at LSU. He was a safety on the 2007 football champs, and a lefty reliever on the 2009 College World Series champs.
