NEW ORLEANS—Today, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu has announced his support of Cedric Richmond's candidacy for Louisiana's Second Congressional District.
"I have had the honor of working with Cedric for a number of years and I know that he has the talent and experience that we need in Congress. Cedric has been a very effective leader. He stood strong on crime-fighting issues as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Cedric has worked tirelessly to secure funding for small businesses and to create jobs. He will be our partner in Washington," says Landrieu.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of Mayor Landrieu. He is working very hard at rebuilding our great city and I look forward to going to Washington to fight for the funding we need throughout the Second Congressional District," says Richmond.
In addition to Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the Cedric Richmond for Congress campaign has received endorsements from Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro, Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman and from local and national Democratic leaders including the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, former U.S. Senator John Breaux and the Congressional Black Caucus PAC.
