Northrop Grumman in Avondale has been a vital lifeline in the gulf coast region.

Generations of families have been proud, hardworking employees at the ship-building plant slated to close.

State Representative Cedric Richmond says Gulf Coast families have already suffered enough and closing the plant would be another hard hitting disaster.

In a show of solidarity, Avondale workers rallied to celebrate a new committment to keep the plant open until 2014.

At the same time they got pumped up to continue the fight to keep plant open even longer.
