Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 700 Bonnie Brae, River Forest, Illinois
Children and families on the 700 block of Bonnie Brae in River Forest will host the 11th annual LemonAid, a Kids Helping Kids 9/11 charity fundraiser.
The public is invited to enjoy ice-cold lemonade, provided by Whole Foods Market River Forest, popcorn, baked goods, and live entertainment, while supporting Sarah's Inn.
The mission of Sarah's Inn is to stand with women and their families to ensure freedom from domestic violence in every community.
LemonAid was established in 2002 in memory of the September 11th attacks. The neighbors on 700 Bonnie Brae felt called to remember this day by doing something positive in the community. It was decided to hold a lemonade stand with proceeds going to a local charity benefiting children. More than eighty Bonnie Brae residents, mostly kids, participate in one way or another to the organization and success of LemonAid. The first year, LemonAid raised $400 for Hephzibah Children's Association. In 2011, $16,000 was donated to the Thrive Counseling Center. To date LemonAid has donated more than $52,000 to local children's charities.
