Hundreds of manatees close down Central Florida spring

Hundreds of manatees close down Central Florida spring

An influx of more than 300 manatees caused Three Sisters Springs in Citrus County to close to swimming and kayaking Monday.   The manatees moved into the interior of the springs at an unexpected rate, according to WTSP. By 1:30 p.m., watch volunteers counted more than 300 manatees in the springs, causing US Fish and Wildlife to temporarily close Three Sisters Springs.   The springs reopened Tuesday. Manatees are known to congregate in the area during high tide and cold weather.
