Flooding causes several Franklin County secondary roads to close

More than 12 roads had to be closed in Franklin County on Wednesday because of overnight flooding.

WDBJ7 checked out three different areas in Franklin County that the Virginia Department of Transportation had to close because of flooding.

By far, Rufus Road in Rocky Mount was the worst. As we approached Rufus Road, you could hear the water gushing over. The road had to be shutdown.

Then we headed over to Ferrum where Pernello road was also closed. The water was receding but still dangerous.

The last location was in Union Hall on Kay Fork Road. The road was closed, but by 9 a.m. it was back open.

We did make a call to the Public Safety Director in Franklin County to find out what their efforts have been and will be as far as the flooding, but have not yet heard back from them.

Out of the 12 roads shutdown in Franklin County, all were secondary roads.
