Bibb County Deputy

A Bibb County deputy has been fired following allegations that he had sex with an underage girl. The deputy has been identified at twenty-four year old Terrell Morrow. Authorities moved quickly in the case - they first learned of the allegations Tuesday morning. Morrow was off the force and facing felony rape charges by Tuesday night.

Winston County Deputy

The Alabama state attorney general said one current and on former Sheriff's deputy have been arrested in Winston County. Nathan Preston and William Harvey Wickwire face multiple charges, including vehicular assault, driving under the influence, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. They surrendered Tuesday night at the Winston County jail and were released on twenty-five thousand dollars bond.

Marijuana Bust in Jefferson County

The Jefferson County sheriff's department literally unwrapped a drug bust on Tuesday. Deputies, along with Hoover Police, stopped a rental car on Interstate 20 near Interstate 459 on Tuesday. A drug dog sniffed out sixty pounds of marijuana that was disguised as birthday presents. Jeffrey Bernard Edwards has been charged with trafficking marijuana and obstructing justice. He is being held on more than half a million dollars bond.

District One Commissioner Update

The decision is now up to the Alabama Supreme Court. They will decide who will be the Jefferson County commissioner for district one. The court heard arguments on Wednesday. Commissioner George Bowman was appointed by Governor Bob Riley to replace Larry Langford on the commission, but Birmingham city councilman William Bell beat Bowman in a special election. The justices must decide if there should have been a special election, and whether or not Governor Riley has the authority to appoint a replacement.

Don Siegelman Update

Federal prosecutors are no longer seeking stiffer prison sentences for Don Siegelman and Richard Scrushy. They filed a motion this week with the Eleventh US Circuit Court of Appeals asking that their appeals of the sentences be dropped. Prosecutors had originally wanted stronger sentences. Siegelman and Scrushy were convicted in 2006 of bribery in a government corruption case.

Courtney Lockhart Arraigned

An arraignment was held on Wednesday for Courtney Lockhart in Lee County. He is facing a capital murder charge for the fatal shooting of Lauren Burk. The Auburn University freshman was abducted and murdered in March. After hearing the charges against him, Lockhart pleaded not guilty.

William Langston Trial Continues

Proceedings continued on Wednesday in the Federal trial against William Langston. He is accused of defrauding the state of $1.5 million while working as executive director of the Alabama Fire College. prosecutors called several witnesses. They include a manager of an electronics store and the bookkeeper of a Montgomery area school. They testified that bills to Langston's family members were paid through checks from the Alabama Fire College foundation. The case should continue into next week.

Construction Worker Dies in Trussville

Trussville Police have said that a twenty-three year old Moundville man died Wednesday afternoon at a construction site. Officials say that Randall Hughes was working with electrical equipment at the site of the new Hewitt-Trussville High School. His body was taken to the Jefferson County coroner's office where an autopsy will be performed. Hughes was employed by Jeffco Concrete.

Fatal ATV Accident in Hoover

A nineteen year old Hoover man was killed when his all-terrain vehicle hit a ditch off of Elvira Road. Hoover Police said that Wynand Jooste died Tuesday night just after 9:00. No other details have been released about the accident. Police are still investigating the incident.

Tree Limb Falls, Kills Man in Cullman County

A falling tree limb killed a Walker County man in a wooded area of rural Cullman County. The victim has been identified as forty-nine year old Donald Ray Terry. The Cullman County coroner says that Terry was cutting timber near County Road 576 with his son and brother when he was struck in the head, and killed.   <a class=Digg" src="" /> Digg   Drudge Drudge   Fark Fark   My Yahoo My Yahoo
