BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC-TV, MyFoxAL.com) -- Roderick Byrd, the man convicted in the 2005 Thanksgiving triple murders was sentenced to death on Friday. Byrd was convicted for his role in the killings of Kim Olney, John Aylesworth and Dorothy Smith on June 22nd at a Birmingham Motel.

Prosecutors said Byrd and a co-defendant, Brandon Mitchell stole a small safe and a cash drawer containing $300. Mitchell was sentenced to death in January for the killings.
