   HOMEWOOD -- The Bush administration's policy on climate change is
unrealistic because it doesn't do enough to encourage businesses to
adopt technology that can fight global warming, the European
Union's ambassador to the United States said Monday. Speaking in an
interview with The Associated Press at the start of a three-day
visit to Alabama, John Bruton said the EU believes that emissions
limits and penalties will nudge industry into conservation methods

   PRESIDENTIAL POLL
   MOBILE -- A survey of likely Democratic voters in Alabama found
that Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama are leading their
party's large field of presidential candidates. In a Press-Register
and University of South Alabama poll of 400 people planning to vote
in February's Democratic presidential primary, Clinton was favored
by 33 percent and Obama by 25 percent.
