According to the statement, Trammell Crow Company, a real estate company in Dallas, Tx., has agreed to pay $60 million to purchase HealthSouth's entire campus on U.S. 280 in Birmingham, including company headquarters and the incomplete digital hospital building.
HealthSouth will not move immediately. It plans to lease its headquarters building from the real estate company for at least one year while it looks for other office space in Birmingham.
Details of the agreement with Trammell Crow Company were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close by the end of July. HealthSouth said it plans to use money from the sale to pay down its debt.
