  7. Joseph C. Tulenko, 80, of Waynesboro

    Mr. Joseph C. Tulenko, 80, of 11410 Airport Road, Waynesboro, died at 6:25 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, in his home. He had been in failing health for the past two months. Born April 1, 1933 in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, he is the son of the late Michael Tulenko Sr. and Susan (Trusko) Tulenko.  He lived his early life in Somerset County. He graduated from Somerset High School with the class of 1951. Mr. Tulenko served with the United States Army from March 31, 1953 until his honorable discharge on March 18, 1955. He mostly served in Germany. He and his wife of over 44 years, Janet E. (Heil) Tulenko, were married on July 27, 1968 in Somerset County. They have lived at their present residence for the past 40 years. Mr. Tulenko worked as a machinist for Mack Truck in Hagerstown, Md. He retired in 1991 after 28 years of service with the company. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Waynesboro, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Tulenko enjoyed golf, bowling, baseball, and extended family get togethers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Greg Tulenko of Crestview, Fla. and Carol Harbaugh and her husband, Dale of Somerset; two grandchildren, Michael Harbaugh and Amy Trimpey; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Gavel of Somerset; Ann Zadzora of Cleveland, Ohio; and Margie Dipre of Cleveland, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Terry E. Shaulis; and five brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, in St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. John B. Bateman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening, in GroveBowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com .
