13. A Celebration of American Folk Music at Hygienic Art Park in New London

The Traditions Festival has become sort of a, well, tradition in New London as this year marks the festival's 7th year in the whaling city. Traditions explores the road folk music has taken and the bits and pieces of American music woven into the tapestry here and there over its journey. This year's headliners are O'Death (pictured), who put their warped spin on Americana and alt-country. The other bands on the bill are Pesky J. Nixon, Paper Hill Casket Company, Oh Cassius, Goodnight Blue Moon, Tim Ericksen and Anaïs Mitchell. Consider this year's festival a big Get Well Soon card for Brown Bird's David Lamb, who is beginning treatment for leukemia and thus couldn't play this year. To help cover Lamb's medical costs, a collection will be going around.
