3. Crime & Punishment: Wilton Little League Coach Goes Crazy On Umpire

The coach of a Wilton Little League team acted so unhinged toward an umpire and his own players that the ump canceled the entire game. An assistant coach for the opposing team, from Oxford, told the Oxford Patch website that the Wilton coach used swear words while critiquing his 11-year-old players and throughout the game accosted the umpire about various calls. She submitted a 33-second camera-phone video in which the coach follows the umpire around the field, shouting "You're insane!" (The Wilton Little League says it "is fully investigating" the matter; the coach has yet to be identified in press reports.)

  5. Crime & Punishment: Two men arrested after police heard them singing a song about their crime

Chris Powell, the political columnist/managing editor of Manchester's Journal-Inquirer, has called New Haven's policies toward undocumented immigrants "treason" and blamed issues in inner-city schools on the low "caliber of the students themselves," as the urban poor are "unproductive and troublesome and drag down everything around them." Yet Powell is in trouble for the one semi-intelligent point he's ever made. He wrote that once-again Senate candidate Linda McMahon made her fortune on "the business of violence, pornography, and general raunch," which caused said business, the WWE, to threaten the Journal-Inquirer with a libel suit. The Hartford Courant's Colin McEnroe did the pro-wrestling empire the favor of listing possible co-defendants who have also likened the WWE to porn, including McMahon's primary opponent Chris Shays, The New York Times' Gail Collins, McEnroe himself, The Daily Kos and Politico (which noted the WWE once partnered with Girls Gone Wild). Powell is finally in distinguished company.

  7. Crime & Punishment: State Trooper by day, prostitute by night

Madeline Smith reportedly told the police officer who spotted her driving the wrong way down a Norwalk street that she could not possibly be drunk because she had tested her blood alcohol level on an iPhone app. But the app in question does not actually work as a breathalyzer test, police told the Norwalk Patch website; it is only meant to be used to trick drunk people into thinking it does. The user programs a high "blood alcohol level" into the app beforehand, tells a drunk person to breathe into the phone and then shows him or her the "results" to encouraging him or her not to drive. Smith, 25, had apparently not punched any number into the app before using it, so she thought it had shown her blood alcohol level as zero and hit the road. Police say their more traditional breathalyzer test showed Smith was well above the legal limit.

  9. The Mercurial Gallery in Danbury highlights the work of Connecticut tattoo artists

Body of Work is a new exhibit at Danbury's Mercurial Gallery that highlights the work of five Connecticut tattoo artists: Eric Chapman and Bretnon Vaughan of New Milford's Canvas Tattoo, Chris Tavino, owner of Danbury's Hat City Tattoo, Mark Fernicola of New Haven and Christopher Olszewski, an apprentice at West Haven Tattoo. Come browse the walls and maybe get some ideas or inspiration for your next piece. And if traditional stuffy art exhibits typically don't appeal to your badass self, this could be a nice crossover to ease your way into the world of visual art.

  23. Clown-O-Meter: Fairfield Teacher Caught With Crack Pipe

Former history teacher Stephen Flanagan's way of interacting with female students was "touchy" and "creepy," according to a New Milford High School human resources official. Flanagan (who retired amid parent complaints) was fond of rubbing girls' backs and shoulders and hung an unsettling number of pictures of them in his classroom. The Danbury News-Times reports parents also complained about his unsolicited photography services at cheerleading, gymnastics and dance team events. (Flanagan reportedly sent one student a package of more than 50 photos of her at her home address.)
