Jenna Stone, a resident of Enfield and 2014 graduate of the Metropolitan Learning Center in Bloomfield, has been selected as a recipient of a $2,000 scholarship from the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.
Stone, who will attend the University of Connecticut this fall, was one of only 25 area students selected from nearly 300 applicants to receive a scholarship. RMHC of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts awarded a grand total of $50,000 to local students...
BLOOMFIELD — Barbara Barenz, a longtime fixture in local schools and volunteer activities, died unexpectedly at home last Friday. She was 72.
Barenz, worked in Bloomfield Public Schools for more than 25 years, in a variety of positions including food service, as an instructional aid, in the central office and finally as the principal's executive assistant at Bloomfield High School.
