Sometimes, at its best, a little toke can wake you up to the splendor that surrounds you every day. This is what happened when we decided to smoke up and visit the BMA and the Walters (AVAM is virtually designed for the stoner, so we simply say, see everything) to see which pieces in the permanent collections would grab our altered attentions. The Walters, let it be said, is a fucking wonderland for the weeded. Take the 16th-century Dutch wunderkammer, or cabinet of wonder, for instance. It is stoner-maximalist to the max, making the Sgt. Pepper’s album cover look like a work of high-concept minimalism, piling reference upon misfit but trippy reference, adding wonder to contradictory...
