    RIP Boston Mayor Tom Menino, who died of cancer Thursday at 71. Menino might have been infamous for messing up Boston athletes' names — he referred to Kevin Garnett as "KJ" and Rajon Rondo as "Hondo" and Rob Gronkowski as "Gonk" — but when Boston needed him, Menino stepped up. Menino had been in the hospital with a broken leg the day of the Boston Marathon bombings. He helped create the OneFund, which has raised millions of dollars for bombing victims, and when he got out of his wheelchair and stood up to speak at the memorial service after the bombing, he became a symbol of a city rising from tragedy.
