Couple Lives By The Words ‘Be Good To The Stranger’

Leland and Paula Bradbard say they follow a directive from their faith — "Be good to the stranger."

Married for 62 years, the Bradbards have lived at the Arbors of Hop Brook, a retirement community, for 3 1/2 years. They moved to Manchester from Massachusetts to be near their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, but they also brought their lifelong passion for giving back to the community.

Paula, 85, recently knitted hats and mittens for a local Headstart class, a group project at the Arbors. Leland, 88, has helped prepare and serve meals at the soup kitchen run by Manchester Area Conference of Churches Charities. Both are volunteers for the Jewish Community...
