WETHERSFIELD — Bayonets will be on the agenda at the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum's annual Revolutionary War Encampment Saturday.
Members of the 5th Connecticut Regiment, a group of Revolutionary War re-enactors, will demonsrtate the proper use of the 18th century bayonet at 10:30 a.m. The bayonet charge was a highly effective battle tactic of the era, museum Executive Director Charles Lyle said.
"It was really hand-to-hand combat that was really kind of the final solution in a battle," Lyle said. "It's a little gruesome to think about, but this is an era before the kind of technology we're using today."
