  • Dilapidated walkways under North Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville are appalling

    Having just moved from the South Side to the North, and having been spoiled by the elegant new pedestrian underpasses in Jackson Park, I am appalled by the dilapidated walkways under North Lake Shore Drive at Streeterville, between Navy Pier and Oak Street Beach. Multimillion-dollar improvements may not be in reach, but is it asking too much that these extensively used underpasses be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized every day? This stretch of the Drive, while much visited by Chicagoans and tourists alike, has several lanes of traffic uninterrupted by any green tree or bush. Therefore, could one not at least have flower planters installed on the light poles along this stretch of the road, similar to those along various other city streets?
