Affidavit: Fearing She'd Be Killed, Woman Fatally Shot Sleeping Man In Hartford

Ashley Pace told investigators she thought Shermane Rose would kill her, so she picked up his .357 Magnum as he slept and shot him, an arrest warrant affidavit reads.

Pace, 21, was already in custody for a charge of tampering with evidence when she was served a murder warrant Wednesday in connection with Rose’s death in mid-June, police officials said.

It was Pace who first called police to the third-floor Farmington Avenue apartment just after noon on June 22, according to the warrant affidavit for her arrest. Inside an apartment in disarray, they found Rose, 37, bathed in bleach with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to the affidavit.
