His friends knew him as Rico Pace, but his official name was Americo Pace, his parents' tribute to their adopted country. Pace showed his love of his country in many ways, from serving in World War II to spending his retirement years volunteering at his church, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and at the state Capitol.
"He lived for giving to others," said his daughter, Donna Schuberth, "and was the very best role model I could have had growing up."
Americo T. Pace, 93, died March 1, 2015 of heart problems. He was a longtime resident of West Hartford.
