Exactly five years ago Saturday, on Oct. 8, 2011, triathlete Colleen Alexander rode her bike home from work in Guilford, something she did quite often.
It was a beautiful day, just like Saturday.
Then a freight truck blew through a stop sign at an intersection and, in an instant, Alexander's life changed.
"It rolled over me with all of its tires," Alexander said Saturday after running the Eversource Hartford Marathon's half-marathon. "I didn't lose consciousness. I knew if I did lose consciousness, the chances I would die were far greater. I screamed and yelled.
