Defending New Haven Road Race Champ Looks To Erase Embarrassing Memory

NEW HAVEN — Even before the World Championships last month, the track season hadn't been going all that well for Molly Huddle.

Huddle, the American record holder in the 5,000 meters and a 2012 Olympian, had to pull out of the Prefontaine Classic in May because of food poisoning. In late July, she couldn't run in a Diamond League meet in Europe because of an injury, and when she did get to run in one in London, a foot injury was bothering her, she couldn't race to her ability and she finished second in the 5,000.
