After a brief ceremony on April 5, former East Hartford girls track coach Scott Wojnarowicz, current coach A.J. LaPlant and 200 others took to the school's new track to honor Kayla Kendall, who was killed 14 years ago.
"Her race was cut short — we walked the final 200 meters in memory of her," Wojnarowicz said Tuesday. "It was a powerful moment."
Wojnarowicz was in his second season as coach when he got the call from the school's principal on Dec. 13, 2003. Michael Kendall had killed his daughter Kayla, her mother Ramona and her sister Alexis.
